Associate Professor at University College London (UCL)
Dr Sarkerserving as an Advisor at Tawhid Academy, who is a student of knowledge and always tries to learn and disseminate revealed knowledge to humanity. He is an experienced Biostatistician and Epidemiologist. He holds a PhD in Statistics (2002) from the University of Surrey and an MSc in Epidemiology (1998) from the Erasmus University Rotterdam jointly with the University of Cambridge, UK. He obtained his BSc (Hons) and MSc in Statistics (1995) from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh with 1st class. In 2012, he also obtained a university teaching qualification "Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP)" with Distinction from the University of London.
Prior to undertaking his PhD, he worked as a Lecturer and then Assistant Professor of Statistics at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. At the final year of his PhD, he was appointed as a Research Fellow at the University of Reading (2002-2004) and then he moved to work on Epidemiology of Stroke at King's College London (2005-2008). Between 2009 and 2018, he worked at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London as a Senior Lecturer of Biostatistics. He moved to UCL in September 2018 as an Associate Professor of Medical Education Research.
He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) as well as the Royal Statistical Society (RSS). He has received a number of university and national academic awards for teaching statistics to non-statisticians including the Times Higher Education Awards 2016 for Outstanding Digital Innovation in Teaching. Dr Sarker published over 100 research papers in academic journals and supervises several PhD students at UCL.
Furthermore, Dr Sarker has attended various Islamic courses run by Al-Maghrib, Al-Kauser, Islamic Institute for Development and Research (IIDR), Ikhwa and Dar Al-Arqam. He completed his three year Sabeel Retreat Development Program, and is currently attending the Sihaab Program and studying Arabic Language at Qortoba Institute, Egypt.
